ABOUT ME

Hi there! My name is Jada :)

I am a recent graduate of San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts with a focus on Television/Video Production.

I’ve had a passion for media and video production ever since taking my first production class in elementary school. Since then, I’ve strived to get all the experience I can in all things film, television, and media related as that’s where I hope my career takes me in the future. As I have gotten more experience, I grew a love for live studio/event productions, specifically in directing.

As a woman of mixed background, I want to see and be a part of a future with more and better representation for women, people of color, and all other underrepresented communities in media.

Radio host - Fangirls on air

(August 2022 - December 2022)

Fangirls On Air was a KSFS Radio show at San Francisco State University during the Fall 2022 semester. I cohosted the show with two of my close friends every Tuesday from 2pm-3pm.

Every week my cohosts and I curated a playlist and talking points about a specific topic related to music we “fangirl” over. I created most of the social media promotions for our show every week and handled our social media (Instagram).

You can find archives of our past shows on the show’s website.

BECAFest 2022

Assistant Director/b-roll director

(May 2022)

BECAFest is an annual live award show celebrating student work from the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts department at San Francisco State University. I had the opportunity to be the assistant director of the live show, as well as the b-roll director for two segments.

As the show’s assistant director, I was in charge of calling lighting, audio, and playback cues during the live production, as well as substituting in for the director when they went on stage to accept an award. As the B-roll director, I helped organize the field productions for the b-roll scenes, and I created the storyboards and the shot lists for the scenes I directed. I worked with a small crew to film our two scenes in less than a day.

Working on this production has been one of my favorite experiences at San Francisco State University. My classmates and I put on this production within the span of one semester.

As a film marketing intern for Allied Global Marketing in San Francisco, I worked closely with account coordinators and publicists to research possible film screening guests and partners in the SF Bay Area. I then conducted outreach by delivering personalized pitches via cold-calling and email for three films, including Disney & Marvel’s Eternals (2021). I assisted in film screenings for five films including a 600 person Industrial Light & Magic screening of Warner Bros.’ Dune (2021) for the Mill Valley Film Festival. Along with that, I brainstormed potential promotional events and opportunities for four additional films, including 20th Century Studio’s West Side Story (2021).

My main highlight of this internship was getting the opportunity to work the world ‘green’ carpet premiere and afterparty of The Matrix Resurrections at the Castro Theater in San Francisco, CA. I was in charge of will call/promotional ticket distribution and a table holder.

In my fall 2021 semester at San Francisco State University, I created and taught my own online class titled ‘Women of Color in the Film Industry’ through SFSU’s Experimental College. I created this course to explore why women of color are often misrepresented, whitewashed, stereotyped, or sidelined in films. As a class, also examined the underrepresentation of women behind the scenes in Hollywood and how that plays a role in on-screen representation.

The Curse is Broken - Feature Film (May 2021 - August 2021)
